Sermon 3/15/2026 Revelation
1 Corinthians 2:9-14
9 But as it is written:
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the [a]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
Definition of Revelation - The act of communicating divine truth - the unveiling of the things of the Spirit - God's purposes and plans revealed to humanity.
There are two types of revelation:
1) General revelation which is knowledge of God through nature and conscience which is accessible to everyone.
2) Special revelation which is direct, specific, communication from God through miracles, prophets, scripture, dreams, visions and ultimately trought the knowledge of Jesus Christ - deep truths revealed by God through the Holy Spirit. To provide the kowledge of salvation - HIs redemptive plan which general revelation cannot communicate.
Jesus said a man cannot come to the Father except the Spirit of God draw them - a revelation of the need of repentance and a Savior. A person Cannot have revelation by his reasoning or mental aptitude. The biggest hinderance to revelation is pride. Revelation is God's way of communicating with humans. Does He want to speak to us? It is a resounding yes! From the very beginning God speaks to Asamand Eve. - He reveals His will to them for garden living.
Gen. 2:15-17 15"Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."
God spoke to them - He revealed His plan for their life in the garden - what to do - how to keep it - what not to do - He revealed to them that there was a tree that could cause death and to avoid it. The Holy Spirit does that for us today. He checks us in our spirit man what to avoid. He also revealed to them that they would have the ability to multiply and fill the earch and subdue it and that they had dominion over the earth. It was an intimate and open relationship that God had with them. God came down in the cool of the day to speak with them. In Genesis 3 we see the enemy immediately comes to steal the revelation and distort it. This is the same trick that he uses today.
God speaks to you and reveals truth - a promise to you and you beleive it, however the devil comes to try to distort it and steal it away from you. To get you to doubt you heard from God. He wants to allure you with lies and deceptions into beleiving in some oher form of what was said by adding or subtracting from the truth or twisting it.
We need revelation of our present reality of our redemption in Christ - revelation of the future events to take place - we need revelation through the gifts of the Holy Spirit - He speaks through prophecies and even in signs and wonders - we need intimacy with the Holy Spirit to hear what God is speaking and what He wants to speak to us.
God is always speaking. Are we listening or is His voice crowded out by the voices of this world? We need revelation of the times we live in - what God is doing and how He is doing it.
Lord help us to see - open the eyes of our understanding.
